Black Cohosh or Actea racemosa is a lovely perennial herb, which shows beautiful dark copper leaves, and is a fabulous architectural plant as it produces tall spires of creamy white scented flowers in late summer. Growing to 2 metres, it enjoys a moist humus rich position. Will tolerate dappled shade.
Has been used as a preperation for menopause, and the root is used in the production of a supplement for women.

Plants arrived ready to make an instant statement in the border. Thanks to careful packing all the dark feathery fronds were intact. Good size meant they form an instant contrasting backdrop to artemisia and soft pink delphiniums. Planting with mallow Mauritania makes a stunning combination.
