Dyer's Chamomile (Anthemis tinctoria)Herb in 9cm Pot

Anthemis tinctoria is a Hardy Perennial it is also known as Golden Marguerite or Ox-eye Chamomile. It has pretty lemon-yellow daisy-like flowers from Jul to August, followed by seeds which ripen from Aug to September above finely cut aromatic foliage. Good in a sunny well drained border these drought tolerant plants will be a magnet to bees and butterflies. Support with brushwood in late spring before the flowers appear. After flowering cut back the faded stems to the ground to encourage new growth from the base of the plant.

Herb Usage

It has no culinary uses but as its common name suggests it  was used in the past to dye fabrics producing excellent yellow, buff and golden-orange dyes.
