Chamomile, Double - Chamaemelum nobile 'Flore Pleno'

Type: Perennial

Chamomile is native to Western Europe and America, and grows wild in the pastures and prairies, or where other grasses flourish. As a result, it is fully hardy and prefers well drained soils in full sun.

A mat-forming evergreen plant, Chamaemelum nobile 'Flora Pleno' has tiny aromatic leaves and long stalked double daisy-like flowers. A more compact plant than its single flowering counterpart, Double Chamomile can be cut as lawn.

Popularly used as a calming, stress relieving tea, chamomile also assists digestion and the flowers and leaves have been used for a range of complaints, from nappy rash to anger management. The essential oils are important in cosmetic products like conditioners, and also feature in the arsenal of the aromatherapist.
