Mint Eau de Cologne - Mentha x piperita f. citrata

Type: Perennial

Mentha x piperita 'citrata' is a native of Europe, but has been naturalised worldwide. This hardy perennial is essentially a culinary herb used in sauces to complement meats (mint sauce with lamb), soups, salads, vegetable dishes, sweet dishes and drinks. The sharply aromatic scent of eau de cologne mint is ideal for adding to drinks or dried for pot pourri .

Mint will thrive anywhere, preferring moist partly shady areas, and are easy to grow from cuttings or replanting of runners. To control spread, this herb should be planted in sunken bottomless containers and kept well watered to ensure good leaf production.

Eau de Cologne Mint will produce pale mauve flower spikes in summer, and grow 30cm-90cm tall. Not as vigorous as spearmint, and requiring plenty of water, this is an excellent variety for the herb garden.
