Stevia rebaudiana - Stevia rebaudiana
Type: T/Perennial MIN 7'
Stevia Rebaudiana is a perennial herb in the Chrysanthemum family which grows wild as a small shrub in parts of Paraguay and Brazil. As the climate in the UK is much cooler, Stevia is considered a tender plant and will need to be protected from frost.
Stevia is becoming known as a natural sweetener, as the glycosides in its leaves, including up to 10% Stevioside, account for its incredible sweetness and make it unique among the nearly 300 species of Stevia plants.
Stevia has many upright stems that hold the oval toothed bright green leaves, and in summer, it will produce a pale flower.
