Sweet Rocket - Hesperis matronalis

Hesperis Matronalis or Sweety Rocket has a myriad of common names which include 'Dame’s Rocket', 'Damask Violet', 'Dame’s Gilliflower', 'Night Scented Gilliflower' and 'Summer Lilac.'

A stunning perennial that can grow to 90 cm, the lush green lance-shaped leaves will send up spires of flowers in the summer. These flowers form clusters of night-scented white or purple blooms that are very attractive to bees and are a good food plant for the Orange Tip Butterfly.

Preferring full sun or partial shade, Sweet Rocket is a wonderful addition to the cottage garden or herbaceous border.
