Thyme, Hartington Silver - Thymus 'Hartington Silver'
A native of Southern Europe, Thyme Hartington Silver, or Thymus Hartington Silver is now grown the world over as it is such a versatile plant. Its foliage is attractive, the flowers are long-lasting and very pretty, it is drought tolerant - an overall easy-care plant.
Thyme Hartington Silver reaches a height of just 3 cm and with its tiny variegated cream, silver and green leaves, this variety is perfect as a small ground cover. With pink flowers in the summer, it is suitable for planting in the rock garden, herb garden or the front of a border. Thymes are also known as very good container plants.
Thyme hartington Silver likes a well-drained light soil, and it should not be too rich in nutrients as this will only encourage the plant to grow 'leggy' and lose its compact shape. Being a native of the Mediterranean it needs a place in full sun.
