Thyme, Minimus - Thymus serpyllum 'Minimus'

Type: Perennial
A native of Southern Europe, Thyme Minimus, or Thymus serpyllum 'Minimus' is now grown the world over as it is such a versatile plant. Its foliage is attractive, the flowers are long-lasting and very pretty, it is drought tolerant - an overall easy-care plant.
Thyme Minimus reaches a height of 5 cm and with its tiny densely packed green leaves and pink flowers, it is suitable for planting in the rock garden or the front of a border. Thymes are also known as very good container plants, and Thyme minimus is the best variety to use along pathways and in gravel, as the scent is intensified when trodden on.
Thyme Minimus likes a well-drained light soil, and it should not be too rich in nutrients as this will only encourage the plant to grow 'leggy' and lose its compact shape. Being a native of the Mediterranean it needs a place in full sun.
