Lavender 'Jean Davis'(Lavandula angustifolia 'Jean Davis') Herb in 1 Litre Pot

Most lavenders bloom in shades of purple, but not Jean Davis. For soft, sweet spires of whisper pink this is the best variety of fragrant English lavender, perfect for pastel gardens. Maturing a little over a foot tall with an attractive full shape, Jean Davis is a good choice for gardeners that live in areas where rabbits or deer are a problem, as this cultivar is resistant to both. Lavender 'Jean Davis' has grey- green foliage and mauve pink flowers 5-8cm spikes are borne on stems 12-25cm long. This is a smaller variety that adds a lovely contrast to its purple cousins

As a compact mound forming lavender, it works well when grown at the front of borders, in pots or as an informal flowering hedge, the evergreen nature of the leaves make it an ideal hedging and garden plant as it will give structure to a garden throughout the year it can also be clipped into an attractive round mound shape to give a modern look.  The flowers are also particularly attractive to bees. Lavender is a flowering plant in the family Lamiaceae, native to the Mediterranean region and as such prefers a light free-draining soil and an open sunny sheltered position. Lavender enjoys being cut back hard (to 2 cm above the hardwood) after flowering in mid Sept and to maintain a neat shape they can be trimmed again in Spring after the first flush of new growth. Ideally plants should be replaced every 3-4 years as they will eventually become woody at the base especially if not regularly pruned, however,  with the correct regular pruning they can last much longer.

    Quality plants and service

Posted by Unknown on 23rd Jun 2014

I was a little dubious about ordering 5 plants on line but I should not have worried. The experience was faultless from the easy to use web site, efficient delivery and robust packaging to the quality of the plants. My mother whose name was Jean Davis sadly passed away last year and the plants were a gift for some of her close friends. The high calibre of the plants means they will have a fitting tribute for years to come
