Sage,  Silver (Salvia 'argentea') Herb in 1 litre Pot

Silver Sage, or Salvia argentea is a wonderfully attractive plant, with its large spread of basal leaves that can measure up to 1m wide. The individual leaves are large, with both leaf surfaces being heavily covered with silky hairs that give it a woolly appearance. The leaves are soft to the touch, first emerging as a distinctive silvery white and then turning to grey-green after flowering. Cool weather turns the leaves silvery again. The show of white flowers that have the typical salvia hooded shape, are absolutely fabulous! Preferring light, well-drained soil and full sun, sage will often flourish all year.

Herb Usage

Sage has been used for centuries as a culinary herb. Silver Sage is grown as a perennial herb plant primarily for its silvery foliage, and flowers which are highly attractive to bees and butterflies. The leaves of this particular sage being hairy would not lend themselves to being eaten, but it is a lovely plant to grow at the front of the border where foliage can be fully appreciated.
