A brand NEW flowering shrub Sage (salvia) for our collection at Hooksgreen Herbs. We will be lauching 'Annabel' at BBC Gardeners World Live Show at the NEC in June.
This new plant is a great addition to our collection of over 50 sages (salvias), growing from 75 - 100cm tall, it has bright pink flowers starting in late spring right through to early autumn giving a fantastic display for the entire growing season. Salvia 'Annabel' perefers a sunny spot in the garden, flourishing in a well drain site. The Ideal time for cutting back flowering shrub sages, in our experince, is the spring. Cut up to half the plant back shaping as needed. If sages are becoming leggy then a light summer cut may be required. Dead heading the old flowers will encouage new flowers all season.
Salvia 'Annabel' has a fruity scent to the leaf and could be used in puddings and summer drinks to give a fruit undertone.
'Salvia 'Annabel' has been named after Thomas Dickson's daughter and 50p of every sale will be donated to his grandmother's charitable trust..The Ruth Dickson Trust (www.ruthdicksontrust.org).
