These three delightful herbs in 9cm pots will liven up a summer salad, add punch to a rissotto, give life to your roast or salad potatoes and many more dishes. The pack contains:

1 x Curled Parsley (Petroselinum crispum) Herb in 9cm Pot

Curled Parsley is a clump-forming plant, preferring rich well-drained soil in a sunny or partially shady site, performs well in a potted situation. The leaves are very rich in iron and Vitamin A, C and E, and although yellow-green flowers are produced in umbels in summer, it is best to employ a rotational planting system to ensure that you have fresh young leaves all season.

As a garnish, no herb is better known than Parsley (Petroselinum crispum), and it is grown in several varieties around the world. Native to the Mediterranean and Southern Europe, Parsley has spread globally, and is probably one of the most recognised herbs. Parsley also has the ability to counter strong odours so is often used with garlic or onions.

1 x Rosemary 'Prostrate' (Rosmarinus officinalis 'Prostratus Group')Herb in 9cm Pot

At least one variety of Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) is absolutely essential in a culinary herb garden this 'Prostrate' Rosemary or 'creeping' rosemary as it is also commonly known is a woody, perennial herb with fragrant evergreen needle-like leaves, but unlike most Rosemary's it is low growing and Prostrate so great for ground cover and has made a name for itself as the container rosemary. It looks natural in containers, hanging baskets and easily wraps around circular wire frames to create topiaries. This creeping rosemary is a tender perennial with fragrant evergreen foliage and pale blue spring /summer flowers. It will  grow to 50cm. Short dark green needle-shaped aromatic leaves appear on arching prostrate stems, so it is very compact  and ideal for a smaller garden where one of the larger varieties is not possible or just to make a change from the usual more upright varieties. It's strong growth of dark green leaves give off a powerful scent especially when planted in full sun where this Mediterranean plant is happiest.   Rosemary is very attractive to bees and other pollinating insects too.

The leaves of Prostrate rosemary are extremely aromatic, and can be finely chopped and used to flavour a variety of dishes, especially stuffing or simply cut sprigs of rosemary and place with roasted meats, especially lamb, pork, chicken and turkey.  Beautiful when chopped and added to roasting potatoes, and great in tomato based sauces. The leaves can also be made into a tea to aid digestion. The leaves can be dried to add to dishes too.

1 x Thyme Compact (Thymus vulgaris 'Compactus') Herb Plant Herb in 9cm Pot

This is a compact version of common thyme and it makes a neat, spreading mound of aromatic green leaves. Through the summer it is covered in masses of tiny pink-purple flowers, which butterflies and bees love. It is suitable for planting in the rock garden, herb garden or the front of a border it will also make a very good container plant.

Compact Thyme likes a well-drained light soil, and it should not be too rich in nutrients as this will only encourage the plant to grow 'leggy' and lose its compact shape, also ensure that the plant is cut back after flowering again to help maintain shape. Being a native of the Mediterranean it needs a place in full sun. Compact  Thyme is an excellent herb for flavouring stuffing and stews, and is ideal added to a bouquet-garni. Pies and chutneys are also given an extra lift when this aromatic herb is added. It has also been used for many centuries medicinally and its essential oils have been used to treat aches and pains and sprains.
