Salvia Pink Blush is such an attractive plant that most who see it, wish they had one in their garden!

As a frost hardy perennial, and growing up to 1.2m tall, Salvia microphylla var. microphylla, along with all the Salvia microphylla varieties, originated in the mountain regions of Central America, and thus prefers wamer climates than we traditionally experience in the UK. However, Salvia Pink Blush, like its counterpart Blackcurrant Sage, can still thrive here if given protection from cold and excessive wet in the winter.

Prefers a sunny well drained sheltered position. Needs "shape" pruning in searly spring when shoots start to appear from the lower stems.

Once established in well-drained soil in a sunny site, Pink Blush will put on a show of beautiful pink flowers from May to October. The fragrant leaves are small and oval shaped, and have a wonderful scent of blackcurrant, which can be used in the kitchen to add a hint of blackcurrant to baking or summer drinks.

Can be an excellent container plant.
