Calamintha nepeta or Lesser Calamint is a perennial shrub, forming a compact mound of shiny, green oregano-like leaves. The flowers are lavender pink. The plant reaches a height of 18 inches. The Lesser Calamint smells like a cross between mint and oregano. It attracts honeybees and butterflies.

Herb usage

It is used as a spice in Italian cuisine where it is called mentuccia, nipitella or nepitella.

Arrived in good condition but pot-bound

Posted by Unknown on 1st Aug 2019

Plant arrived healthy and in good condition. It was well packed and protected. However I was surprised to find it pot bound. Thankfully, having prised the roots apart and potted it on it is growing away well.

    Really pretty tubular bells

I love this one. Arrived well packed and looked healthy. One week on and it is really going well. Will be planting this one in my herb bed as I don’t have this type of flower in there at the moment. Can’t wait to see it in bloom attracting bees and my favourites, butterflies. Thank you Hooksgreen.
