Lsvender pinnata is different from other lavenders it produces a trident shaped azure blue flower on long flower stems from Spring to late Autumn Height 24" (60cm) flower spikes can reach 36" (80cm). The foliage is unlike the usual lavender Lavender as it has an unusual silver pretty feathery appearance, the scent is different too. Being a tender perennial it needs a well sheltered, free draining site in the garden if you live in the sheltered South it will not tolerate any frost so if in doubt plant in a pot where it performs spectacularly as being a tender variety it can then be moved into a frost free position say a green house or conservatory over winter. As with all Lavenders the flowers are attractive to bees. Lavender is a flowering plant in the family Lamiaceae, native to the Mediterranean region and as such prefers a light free-draining soil and an open sunny sheltered position. Lavender enjoys being cut back hard (to 2 cm above the hardwood) after flowering and to maintain a neat shape they can be trimmed again in Spring after the first flush of new growth. Ideally plants should be replaced every 3-4 years as they will eventually become woody at the base especially if not regularly pruned.
The flowers of all Lavenders have long been harvested for their essential oil, as well as its insect repellent properties, infusions can ease headaches and encourage restfulness. Dried Flower heads can be used in Lavender pillows to freshen clothes and repel insects in drawers. Dried Flowers can also be used in cooking such as lavender biscuits and even lavender ice-cream.
Our potted Lavender Pinnata herb plants are generally available to buy online all year round.

After surviving 3 winters (under cover) my Pinnatas finally gave in this past winter!? Excellent plants in new order, arrived in 'bomb-proof' packaging! They are coming on a treat in this lovely summer weather.

I only found this firm fairly recently and am delighted with all the plants I have bought so far. Will certainly buy from them again.
The Lavender Pinnata plants are so pretty and are really doing well.

The plant was well packaged and in good condition when it arrived. It had been grown in a smaller container (as a plug plant?), and seemed to have been transferred into the 9cm pot quite recently as the plug was quite loose. Hopefully all will be OK in the end and we have a lovely herb.
