Quality mint plants. I ordered Blackcurrant mint along with Tashkent and Bowles mint. All three arrived well grown and in perfect condition. Blackcurrant mint is great all round new variety with a good look, a fruity aroma and I'm looking forward to using it in the kitchen.
Mentha 'Blackcurrant' (Blackcurrant Mint) Herb Plant
Some Herbs may be too tall for our standard packaging and will be trimmed to fit. This will not be detrimental to the plant but will mean that these herbs will flower later in the year.
The Blister packs used to protect our beautiful herbs during transit are made from 100% recycled plastic and can be recycled kerbside.
Blackcurrant Mint (Mentha 'BlackCurrant') Herb in 9 cm Pot
Hooksgreen Herbs are extremely pleased to be launching Blackcurrant Mint as a NEW addition to their Herb range for the Malvern Spring Festival 2019, which opens on Thursday 9th May.
There is a hint of Blackcurrant scent over a spearmint base with this beautiful plant, which produces dark green leaves with a flush of Blackcurrant colour in early growth and a profusion of tasty leaves during the growing season. It is hardy and like most species of the mint family has a spreading habit, so is well suited to being grown in a container.
Mint will thrive anywhere, preferring moist partly shady areas, and are easy to grow from cuttings or replanting of runners. To control spread, this herb should be planted in sunken bottomless containers and kept well watered to ensure good leaf production. Blackcurrant mint will produce small mauve flower spikes in summer, and grow 45cm tall.
Blackcurrant Mint can be used as a garnish for Summer drinks, try adding this to a mojito for a blackcurrant twist on the classic. Add a fresh taste to ice creams and sorbets or use in baking to add a Blackcurrant/Mint hit. A fresh mint tea made from the leaves will be refreshing on hot summer days and an alternative to classic mint tea adding a subtle blackcurrant overtone. As a mint sauce combined with roast lamb, Blackcurrant mint adds a whole new dimension to this traditional English dish.
