Thyme is grown the world over as it is such a versatile plant, not only is its foliage is attractive, the flowers are long-lasting and very pretty, and it is drought tolerant - an overall easy-care plant. On top of that it is one of the most useful herbs for the kitchen.
Thyme 'Hartington Silver' reaches a height of just 3 cm it has tiny variegated cream, silver and green leaves, with pretty pale white/pink flowers in the summer, this low-growing mat-forming creeping thyme is an excellent ground cover plant, it is suitable for planting in the rock garden, herb garden or the front of a border, or perhaps plant between pavers or in gravel paths as the aromatic leaves release a lovely scent when trodden on. Thyme 'Hartington Silver' likes a well-drained light soil, and it should not be too rich in nutrients as this will only encourage the plant to grow 'leggy' and lose its compact shape, also ensure that the plant is cut back after flowering again to help maintain shape. Being a native of the Mediterranean it needs a place in full sun.
Thyme 'Hartington Silver' s an excellent herb for brightening up a herb garden as edging or as a feature plant, it is extensively used as a path thyme between flag stones and within turf. It is often found on rockeries as it is more decorative than culinary.

These were I lovely condition when they arrived. My only disappointment was that they turned out to have pale pink flowers, whereas some that I bought elsewhere were white, which is what I. prefer in my garden scheme. They. have taken well since planting too.
