Black Root  'Adoration'(Veronicastrum 'Adoration') Herb in 1L Pot

Veronicastrum 'Adoration' is commonly known as  Black root, Culver's Root and Bowman's root and Physic root. An elegant hardy perennial which is native to North America it can grow up to a height of 1.2m with a spread of 45cm a welcome addition for the mid to back of the border. It has finely toothed leaves with an upright spike-like flower clusters which in the case of 'Adoration' are pink in colour from summer to autumn. It prefers a sunny site in a well-drained soil, full-sun to part shade. It flowers Summer to autumn.

Black Root is a plant known for its medicinal qualities in fact it's other common name Culver's root or Physic refers to an 18th Century American physician Dr. Culver who used the bitter, dried roots which were boiled to produce a powerful tonic. as a purgative and emetic.
