Oregano 'Herrenhausen' is an aromatic herb, with small green, pointed leaves and a mound forming nature. It is grown predominantly for its beautiful pink flowers backed by deep-purple calices which are a fabulous display through the summer months. It's dark foliage and almost-black wiry stems add to the attraction of Oregano 'Herrenhausen'. As summer fades, the bracts and stems remain intact and form a branching, dark seed-head giving winter interest too. Growing 45cm tall and preferring light well-drained soil, Oregano 'Herrenhausen' prefers a sunny site and does not particularly enjoy prolonged wet winters, but its hardy nature means can remain evergreen through the winter months if the weather remains clement.
Although Oregano is generally an extremely aromatic green herb, 'Herrenhausen' is not, however, one of the edible origanums. The foliage is only slightly aromatic. It is definitely one for the butterflies and bees and worth having for this reason.
Our potted Oregano herb plants are generally available to buy online between March and September.
